Frequently asked questions

What are the free limits?

Without an account, you can make 5 QR codes a day in one browser.

All guests on the same internet connection share a limit of 30 QR codes a day and 5 a minute.

When you reach a limit, we ask you to sign in. We never add a watermark or lower the quality of your QR code.

After you sign in, you can make 100 QR codes a day and 10 a minute.

Only QR codes you make count. A form with a mistake in it does not count.

Developers: the API has its own limits. See the API docs.

Is KachingQR part of PayNow or a bank?

No. KachingQR is not part of PayNow, the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) or any bank. No bank or payment network endorses it.

PayNow belongs to ABS. KachingQR only makes QR codes that bank apps can read as PayNow payments.

Do you hold my money?

No. The money goes straight from the payer's bank to yours. KachingQR never receives, holds or moves it.

We cannot see your payments. To check a payment, look in your own bank app.

Which bank apps work?

Works with Singapore bank apps that scan PayNow QR codes. We test our QR codes with several major bank apps.

Before you share a new QR code, scan it once with your own bank app. Check the name and the amount, then stop. You do not need to pay.

Can the payer change the amount?

You choose this with "Let the payer change the amount" on the form.

  • Not ticked: the payer must pay the exact amount you enter. You must enter an amount.
  • Ticked, with an amount: the bank app fills in your amount, and the payer can change it.
  • Ticked, without an amount: the payer types the amount.
What do the expiry date and the reference do?

Expiry date: the last day this QR code should be used, in Singapore time. After it, bank apps should not accept it. It is optional.

Reference: a short text that goes with the payment, for example an invoice number. It can help you match a payment to a bill. How it shows depends on the bank app. Use up to 25 letters, digits, spaces or hyphens. It is optional.

How does email sign-in work?

Enter your email address, and we send you a 6-digit code. Type the code on the next page, in the same browser.

The code works once and expires in 10 minutes. After 5 wrong tries, it stops working, and you can ask for a new one.

There is no password. You can also sign in with Google.

What data do you store?

We store only what the site needs:

  • Your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, also your Google profile photo. The photo is loaded from Google's servers.
  • Your sign-in sessions. We do not store your IP address or browser details with them.
  • If you use the API: your API keys (stored in a form no one can read back), and how many requests each key made each day.

Our server logs keep IP addresses for 14 days, for security. To count the free limits, we keep only a scrambled form of your IP address, browser session or email address, for up to a day.

We never store your QR codes. We do not keep what you type into the form, such as your UEN, mobile number, amount or reference. The one exception: if you reach a guest limit and sign in, your input waits in your session, so you do not have to type it again. It is removed when you come back to the generator page, or when your session ends.

For email sign-in, we send your email address to Amazon SES, which delivers the code. We keep only a scrambled copy of the code, for 10 minutes.

Read the full Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account?

Sign in, then open your Account page. Type DELETE and press "Delete my account".

This removes your account, your API keys and your API usage history. It also signs you out on all devices. You cannot undo it.

QR codes you already made still work, because we never stored them.
